Leo says that a PDF creation program could be an easy workaround that can talk to the printer. But it sounds like a corrupted driver. Terry should go to Epson.com to download and install all the latest drivers. The built-in Windows Fax and Scan program is a legacy desktop program but does its job well. The only problem with Windows Fax and Scan is that it cannot save scanned files in PDF or portable document format default. But there is a workaround to save files as PDF after scanning documents and pictures using Windows Fax and Scan program.

Method 1: Run Hardware and Device Troubleshooter
- Press Windows Key + R, type Control Panel.
- Type Troubleshooting in the search bar, click on Troubleshooting.
- Click on Hardware and Sound, click on Hardware and Devices.
- Follow the steps from the wizard to run the Troubleshooter.
If the still persist refer to the below method.
Install the Drivers in Compatibility Mode.
Try updating drivers available on the computer manufacturer’s website, if it’s not possible then trying installing it in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.
Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.
a. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.
b. Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
c. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select previous operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
